Seriously. There's no note of sarcasm there; it's been a good morning. This is why:
My company "fired" my worst client.
This client expected a ridiculously high level of service, requested services that my company does not perform and therefore wouldn't do very well, and was generally a pain in everyone's ass.
And normally, we would put up with this because hey, they're the client and we want to make them happy.
This client, however, DIDN'T PAY US. We'd been giving them a free ride for a while because they were a start-up, but it soon became clear that this start-up wasn't really starting anything and would never be able to pay the tens of thousands of dollars that they owed us.
When we would mention this, their response would be that it was clearly OUR fault that they weren't doing well (it wasn't) and that we should be spending MORE TIME on them (we bill by the hour and didn't want to more to their ginormous bill than we had to).
And now, as of the end of the year, they are no longer my problem!
I get a free lunch.
One of the vendors I work with is taking me and a coworker out to lunch to thank us for our business this year. I'm sure it will be a bit of a sales pitch, but hey, free lunch!
I'm going to Holidazzle!
I've already expressed my excitement over getting to watch the parade in a heated tent, but it's all happening today! Probably with an open bar!
